In Algebra Class we learn how to substitute a number for a variable, and solve for that variable. We learn how to do these things in a fun way, or a way that relates to real life so it is easy to understand and wrap our minds around the content. My Algebra Class is also a flipped over class, so we watch a video every night, take notes, and come back to school and go over the problems and do a worksheet similar to the types of problems we were learning about. My Algebra teacher is Mr. Erickson. Click on the button that says "Mr. Erickson" to go to the website where we watch our videos every night. Click on the "Math Mondays" button to go to my blog about Math. Make sure to give me feedback on what you think.
Pennies in a Box ProjectOur assignment in Algebra class was to try and figure out how many pennies there are in a 17.5 cm by 13.5 cm by 12.8 cm box. I learned how to use exponents to figure out problems like this. After we went over how to get a more correct answer, I had realized my mistakes, which in my opinion is a good thing to know after you try to do the project. This project helped me get even more familiar with Google Docs. and the options that I can use in Google Docs. I do recommend Google Docs. for people who are tired of carrying a flash drive around or people who like to easily share their documents with friends, family, coworkers or teachers.

Computer Math GameOur assignment in Computers class was to play this math game called "Diffy " and write a blog about it. This is the game once it is completed. From this assignment I not only learned about this very good brain warm up game for math, I also relearned and recapped on whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and money. I'm glad Mr. Kimbley introduced this to us because it is a great activity for my younger brother and sister. I recommend you trying this game out: Here's the link: Diffy Math Game. Remember, It may ask you to update your Java Script. So, press run this time, or update it.

Algebra Program - Google SpreadsheetIn Algebra Class, our project was to create a program that can solve the equation Ax+B=Cx+D, when the variables are substituded for numbers. I used Google Docs to create this program, because it isn't as compliate as Scratch.
I learned from this project, exactly what I did to make it, how to make and program a spreadsheet to do Algebra problems for me. I also learned that to create a program like this, you have to break up the equation into different cells for it to work. This project helped me with some computer skills I had at first not known about. It was also the first time I've ever used a Google Spreadsheet before. Since I had used it, it really helped me with my skills with Google Spreadsheet and made me realize what I can do with Google Spreadsheet. I believe this was a very fun and cool way to learn some computer and algebra skills. |
